GST collection grew well in March 2025, keeping up the good money trend seen all year. The GST collections for the month of March reached Rs 1.96 lakh crore, shows a 9.9% rise year on year.

Breaking Down the March GST Numbers
The March collections showed strong results across all parts of GST:
- Central GST: Rs 38,100 crore
- State GST: Rs 49,900 crore
- Integrated GST: Rs 95,900 crore
- GST cess: Rs 12,300 crore
After giving refunds, the net GST collections for March totaled Rs 1.76 lakh crore, growing 7.3% compared to last year. These numbers show the steady strength of India's tax system even as the economy faces various world and home challenges.
Full Year Performance Shows Steady Growth
Looking at the whole 2024-25 year, the gross GST collections reached Rs 22.08 lakh crore, showing a healthy 9.4% rise compared to last year. After refunds, the net GST collections for FY25 stand at Rs 19.56 lakh crore, up by 8.6% from last year.
This matches well with what the government planned, which had expected an 11% rise in GST money for the year. The government had planned for collections of Rs 11.78 lakh crore, including Central GST and cess.
Recent Collection Trends Show Steady Growth
Gst collection of March numbers continue a pattern of steady growth seen in recent months:
- February 2025: 9.1% rise to Rs 1.83 lakh crore, mainly from strong buying at home
- January 2025: 12.3% rise to Rs 1.96 lakh crore
- December 2024: Slower 7.3% growth (Rs 1.77 lakh crore) after the festival season ended
The steady growth in GST collections shows more people paying taxes, more businesses being taxed, and the basic strength of the Indian economy despite world money worries.
