GST Collection Data Feb 2025: Rs1,83,646 Crore up by 9.1%YoY

The Ministry of Finance released the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Collection data for February 2025 on March 1, 2025. The overall GST collection stood at Rs 1,83,646 Crore, with an increase of  9.1% in year-on-year growth

The recent GST collection data reflects robust revenue generation. It also marks a significant surge from the previous month's collection by 9.1%.

GST Collection December 2024: Data Points

The Central GST collection stood at Rs 35,204 crore, while the State GST collection is at Rs 43,705 crore. The Integrated GST (IGST) collection stood at Rs 90,870 crore. Meanwhile, the Cess collected by the government in February 2025 is at 13,868 Crore.

The domestic transaction witnessed a robust Year on year growth of 10.2%, while the revenue from imports saw a surge of 5.4%

GST Refunds and State Collections 

In February 2024, the government issued refunds totalling Rs 18,309 crore. A slight increase compared to the previous month. After accounting for refunds, the net GST collection stood at Rs 1,68,337 crore, reflecting a growth of  9.1% YoY.

The government also released state-wise GST collections for February 2025, with Maharashtra again leading in absolute gross monthly revenue, followed by Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu. 

Year-on-year growth varied significantly, with regions such as Ladakh, Nagaland, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tripura, Sikkim, and Tamil Nadu experiencing changes ranging from a 32% increase to a 46% decline.

The key revenue contributors are Maharshrea and Karnatka. They reported a growth of 13% and 10% respectively. Meanwhile, they both showed a comparative decline compared to January 2025

Economic Insights and Future Outlook

The February 2024  GST figures indicated modest growth compared to the past few months. This trend is typical when the financial year is coming to an end.

States such as Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland saw a negative growth in the GST collection.
