The gross GST collections grew by 8.1% YOY, while net collections increased by 7.9%. The difference reflects higher refund payouts, with total refunds increasing by 10.2% to Rs 22,595 crore in February 2026 compared to Rs 20,500 crore in February 2025.
April–February 2025-26 Cumulative Performance
The first 11 months of FY 2025-26 have shown strong momentum with cumulative gross GST collections reaching Rs 20.27 lakh crore, marking a strong 8.3% growth over the same period last year (Rs 18.72 lakh crore). Net collections for April–February 2025-26 stood at Rs 17.57 lakh crore, representing a healthy 6.9% increase over the corresponding period in 2024-25 (Rs 16.43 lakh crore).
Domestic vs Import Performance
Domestic GST collections grew by 5.3% to Rs 1.36 lakh crore, while import-related GST collections showed impressive growth of 17.2% reaching Rs 47,837 crore. This indicates strong performance in both domestic consumption and international trade activity, with imports showing particularly robust momentum.
Refund Analysis
In February 2026, refunds rose by 10.2% to Rs 22,595 crore over Rs 20,500 crore in February 2025. The domestic refunds decreased by 5.3% while the export refunds through ICEGATE were 26.5% higher. For the period of April to February 2025-26, cumulative refunds were Rs 2.70 lakh crore, which was an increase of 18.1% compared to Rs 2.29 lakh crore for the same period of the previous year. This increase in refunds is the reason for the difference in the growth rates between gross and net collections.
