GST Collections Rise 6.1% in December 2025 to Rs 1.75 Lakh Crore

GST collection in December 2025 stood at Rs 1.75 lakh crore, registering a year-on-year growth of 6.1% compared to December 2024. After adjusting refunds, net GST revenues reached Rs 1.46 lakh crore, reflecting a growth of 2.2% YoY.

With this performance, GST collections have now remained above Rs 1.70 lakh crore for multiple consecutive months, underlining the sustained resilience of India’s indirect tax framework and steady economic activity toward the end of CY2025.

Gross GST collections increased 6.1% YoY, while net collections rose 2.2%, mainly due to higher refund disbursements during the month. Total refunds paid in December 2025 stood at Rs 28,980 crore, marking a sharp 30.9% increase over Rs 22,138 crore in December 2024.

April–December 2025 Cumulative Performance

For the nine-month period of FY 2025–26 (April–December), GST collections continued to show solid momentum:

  • Cumulative Gross GST Collections: Rs 16.50 lakh crore

(YoY growth of 8.6% over Rs 15.20 lakh crore)

  • Cumulative Net GST Collections: Rs 14.25 lakh crore

(YoY growth of 6.8% over Rs 13.35 lakh crore)

Domestic vs Import Performance

For Dec 24 and Dec 25 comparison:

  • Domestic GST collections in December 2025 rose modestly by 1.2% to Rs 1.23 lakh crore, reflecting stable internal demand.
  • Import-related GST collections witnessed a strong surge of 19.7%, reaching Rs 51,977 crore, driven by higher trade volumes and improved customs collections.

On a cumulative basis (April–December 2025):

  • Domestic GST grew 6.8% YoY
  • Import GST expanded by 13.8% YoY

State-level GST data for December 2025 shows divergent trends across regions, reflecting sectoral and consumption variations.
