NSE Debuts Trading F&O for Nifty Next 50 Index

National Stock Exchange (NSE) launched a futures and options contracts for the Nifty Next 50 index on Wednesday. In its recent circular on April 18, 2024 NSE made a public notice about introduction of FnO segment in Nifty next 50 index. The first day was a success, with over 375 trading members participating with a 1,223 number of contracts worth of Rs 78.16 Crore being traded. East India Securities Limited and Samco Securities Limited were among the first to execute trades in these new contracts.

Nifty Next 50: A Stepping Stone for Top Stocks

This index focuses on large companies that come after the top 50 (Nifty 50). These companies are seen as having the potential to join the elite Nifty 50 in the future. The financial services industry holds the biggest weight in the index (23.76%), followed by capital goods (11.91%) and consumer services (11.57%). The contracts, identified by the symbol "NIFTYNXT50," allow trading for three consecutive months at a time. They are settled in cash, with the expiry date falling on the last Friday of each month.

NSE Announced No Transaction Charge on Nifty Next 50

On a recent circulation issued by NSE on April 23, 2024, in which it has mentioned that to encourage the public participants in Futures and Options contracts on Nifty Next 50 Index, it has been decided that there will be no transaction charges levied on the trades done in Futures and Options contracts on Nifty Next 50 Index (NIFTYNXT50) in Future & Options segment from April 24, 2024 (product launch date) till October 31, 2024.
