Auto Sales February 2025: TATA Motors, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Toyota

February auto sales of 2025 showed a decline in performance with the manufactures reporting a mixed sales number. Auto sales in India saw a decline in Feb 2025 due to supply chain disruptions and subdued consumer demand amid rising costs. Major brands saw a dip in their overall sales compared to previous month.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors sold 46,437 cars in February 2025, reflecting a 9.4% decline compared to February 2024's 51,270 units. On a month-over-month basis, sales also saw a 3.4% drop from 48,075 units in January 2025. Despite the decline, Tata managed to maintain a strong presence in the market with a 12.2% market share in February 2025, though it experienced a 1.6% decrease from the 13.8% share it held in February 2024.

Mahindra 

Mahindra continued its strong performance in February 2025, selling 50,420 units, marking an 18.9% growth compared to 42,401 units in February 2024. However, on a month-over-month basis, sales saw a slight 0.5% decline from 50,659 units in January 2025. Despite this, Mahindra's market share rose from 11.4% in February 2024 to 13.2% in February 2025, reflecting a 1.9% gain, further strengthening its position in the Indian automotive market.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki maintained its dominance in February 2025, selling 1,60,791 units, reflecting a 0.3% growth compared to 1,60,272 units in February 2024. However, on a month-over-month basis, sales declined by 7.4% from 1,73,599 units in January 2025. Despite the dip, Maruti Suzuki continued to hold the largest market share at 42.2% in February 2025, though it saw a 0.8% decrease from 43.1% in February 2024, reaffirming its leadership in the Indian automobile market.

Hyundai

Hyundai recorded sales of 47,727 units in February 2025, reflecting a 4.9% decline compared to 50,201 units in February 2024. The company also saw an 11.6% drop in sales from 54,003 units in January 2025. As a result, Hyundai’s market share stood at 12.5% in February 2025, experiencing a 1.0% decline from 13.5% in February 2024, signaling a challenging period for the automaker in the Indian market.

Toyota

Toyota registered strong sales in February 2025, selling 26,414 units, marking a 13.4% growth compared to 23,300 units in February 2024. On a month-over-month basis, sales remained steady with a slight 0.9% increase from 26,178 units in January 2025. Toyota's market share improved to 6.9% in February 2025, reflecting a 0.7% gain from 6.3% in February 2024, reinforcing its growing presence in the Indian automotive market.

Other Manufacturers

Kia recorded 25,026 units sold in February 2025, achieving a 23.9% year-on-year growth from 20,200 units in February 2024, while maintaining the same sales as January 2025. Honda, however, saw a 21.4% decline, selling 5,616 units compared to 7,142 last year. Skoda showed an impressive 147.7% surge, reaching 5,583 units from 2,254. MG, VW, Renault, Nissan, and Jeep faced declines ranging from 7.0% to 34.4%. Citroën saw the sharpest drop at 36.3%, selling just 268 units. Despite market shifts, brands like Kia and Skoda demonstrated resilience, while others faced challenges in maintaining momentum.
