This year has been one of those years where both the investors and the traders had a tough time deciding whether to be on the bullish side or vice versa. The global markets along with the commodities and currencies have been showing signs of weakness but on the other hand, the Indian markets have been exhibiting resilience to show any weakness. The American and the European markets cracked very sharply in the current calendar year but on the other hand, Nifty is just around 7% away from its all-time highs.
Currently, we are in the mid of the festive season where Diwali will begin with the start of the celebration of the Dhanteras this weekend. Dhanteras puja takes place in the beginning of Diwali and denotes wealth and success in the homes of the devotees. Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are worshipped together with Lord Kubera. Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi, marks the beginning of the festivities.
According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Dhanvantri, the lord of Ayurveda, emerged during Samudra Manthan which was done by all gods and goddesses to churn the oceans and the sea. It was the same time when Dhanvantri appeared with the holy text of Ayurveda in one hand and a pot full of elixir in the other.
Dhanteras Puja is also celebrated as National Ayurveda Day in India as God of Ayurveda appeared on the same day. On this auspicious occasion, the people clean and decorate their houses and color it throughout with rangoli, lights, and diyas. They also dress with new clothes and worship Lord Dhanvantri in the evening. It is said that the purchase of gold and sliver on this day is considered as very auspicious so people tend to buy precious metals on this day.
Let us also celebrate this festival by stating in to journey of the financial world by investing in to the various options of financial instruments. To invest in gold, one may opt for ETF options or Gold Bees for the long-term investment which I popularly now a days known as E Gold. On the other hand, one may also start SIP in the gold instruments for regular savings and wealth creation.
Apart from the precious metals, an investor should also start investing in the equity markets on this auspicious either by the route of SIP, mutual funds or direct in to equities. For being financially independent in the later stage of our lives, we have to think and start investing from the current juncture itself because to create a huge wealth we have to give necessary time for it grow.
To conclude, let us light up our new investment portfolio on this auspicious occasion of Dhanteras and Diwali and make ourselves more independent financially and grow along with the growth story of India.
Happy Diwali 2022!
We are now in the mid-month of October 2022 under the joy of the festive season where the festival of lights is right around the corner. Apart from the above-mentioned pessimistic words, we are still optimistic about the future prospects of the world and also the financial markets. It is always observed in the world of investing that the best investment is always made during the bad times and it has also been proved right in history as well.
Let us keep the dark side of the world aside and start fresh with new ways of investing. In the current situation of the world where everything seems to be negative, we have to step ahead and find the best way to invest to secure our future prospects and growth.
The first thing as an investor, we have to first decide our goals then the risk we want to take to achieve them. Afterward, we have to select the right path from the various options to move forward. Our first goal in the world of investing is to be debt free first and financially independent.
The definition of financial planning has to be changed now. Before it used to be as Income minus expenditure is equal to savings but now it should be Income minus Savings is equal to expenditure. Savings should be given the first preference once we generate the income and then it has to be invested in proper asset classes to maximize the returns.
Various broad asset classes are currently available for investment for a retail investor:
- Real Estate
- Bank FD
- Debentures and many more.
So, from the above information, it is clear that the investment should be done taking a risk, reward, age and asset classes in to consideration and not to dive blindly in to the ocean of the financial world. Even blind investment in equities without timing it properly with proper asset allocation will lead to very disastrous outcomes.
It is also to be noted that the returns can/t be generated without taking any risk. So, as an investor we should always be prepared to succumb to losses as well. Risk and Reward always go hand in hand and can’t be separated. They can be mitigated and adjusted but can’t be eliminated.
To conclude, let us all take a wise decision from this Diwali and SAMVAT 2079 to start allocating our savings and investible amount in to correct asset classes after consulting the best financial advisors about our goals, the investable capital, the duration of investment, the returns expected and the ways of achieving the financial freedom.
Happy Diwali 2022!
