Ratan Tata, India’s Most Beloved and Iconic Industrialist, passes Away at 86

Ratan Naval Tata, one of India's most honorable and respected industrialists passed away on Wednesday. The veteran leader took his last breath at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai on 9 October around 11:30 pm. The news of the passing away of Ratan Tata who was a Veteran Leader and the living inspiration for uncountable individuals around the globe has left everyone shocked and the whole nation in sorrow.  

Ratan Tata was a man with a golden heart. He was commonly addressed as Sir Ratan Tata, as a respect for his unbelievable charitable work and work for the betterment of society and ordinary people. He worked for the welfare of people. He made considerable donations in his whole life. Tata gifted Cornell $50 million in 2008, becoming the largest ever international donor in the university's history. Tata Group and Tata Charities donated $50 million to construct an executive Centre at Harvard Business School (HBS) in 2010. Tata Group in 2014 endowed the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and formed the Tata Center for Technology and Design. The Tata Group gave ₹950 million to IIT Bombay. 

He made several donations for the development and welfare of people.  

Apart from his works for the common people, Sir Ratan Tata was a very successful industrialist and philanthropist. He served as the Chairman of Tata Groups and Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012. He was later appointed as the interim Chairman from October 2016 through February 2017. He made Tata Group India's largest and most well-reputed conglomerate. In his tenure as the Chairman of the Tata Group, the revenue grew over 40 times and profit over 50 times. Tata Group acquired some big companies such as Tetley, Jaguar and Land Rover, Corus, Air India and many more. In 2024, his estimated net worth was Rs 3800 crore.  

Sir Ratan Tata received the Padma Bhushan in 2000, the third largest and Padma Vibhushan in 2008, the second highest civilian honour awarded by the Government of India. He also received many states civilian honour such as 'Maharashtra Bhushan' in 2006 and 'Assam Baibhav' in 2021. The list of honour and awards Sir Ratan Tata received is very long.  

Sir Ratan Tata will be remembered as Treasure of India and will always remain in the hearts of Indians. His words of wisdom will always be remembered by his followers.
