GST Collections Rise 6.2% in June 2025 to Rs 1.85 Lakh Crore

June 2025 GST collection reached Rs 1.85 lakh crore, representing a solid growth rate of 6.2%, over the same month last year. After refunds, net GST revenues were Rs 1.59 lakh crore, which represents still a very respectable growth rate of 3.3% over June 2024. In fact, growth continues to show that not only is the Indian economy in decent shape, but the GST system is working as designed.

The gross GST collections grew by 6.2% YOY, while the net collections increased by 3.3%. These numbers represent number growing tax base in India.

Recent GST Revenue in India

The trend in GST revenues is notable when recent results are considered. April 2025 was a record month for GST revenues, contributing Rs 2.37 lakh crore. May 2025 generated Rs 2.01 lakh crore, with a good 16.5% YOY growth. The Rs 1.85 lakh crore result in June continues to represent decent monthly revenue, while showing a little moderation. March 2025 was another excellent proxy for GST revenues, generating Rs 1.96 lakh crore, a respectable growth rate of 9.9% YOY.

Full Year GST Performance (FY 2024-25)

Gross GST collections during the year 2024-25 (to the end of March) has been recorded at Rs 22.08 lakh crore, which was a solid 9.4% increase over the previous financial year. The net GST collections at Rs 19.56 lakh crore was an 8.6% increase from the previous year. The average monthly GST collections of Rs 1.84 lakh crore was within the range that the government holds as a target and indicates the overall economy was running along consistently over the previous year.                        

Conclusion

GST collections were Rs 1.85 lakh crore in June 2025, again an increase of 6.2%.  Overall, the solid quarterly performance with 11.8% growth and the good state-wise numbers, point to the fact that the economy is functioning healthily.

The government's approach of digitalising and simplifying the tax processes is reflected in this strong performance. The pathway to increased GST collections is helped by better compliance, a growing number of business registrations, and robust domestic demand trends. More accretive growth in the months ahead is anticipated.

This positive movement in GST revenue collection assists in the wider growth story for Indian economy and reflects the outcome of tax reforms that have been made over the years.
