India's GST collections climbed to ₹2.11 lakh crore in July 2026, recording a 15.4% YoY increase driven by strong domestic and import tax collections.

GST collection July 2026, recorded a level of Rs 2.11 lakh crore with a high rate of growth of 15.4% compared to July 2025. Net GST collected in July after making allowances for refunds was Rs 1.81 lakh crore, which indicates growth by 15.8% from July 2025.

The gross GST collections grew by 15.4% YOY, while net collections increased by 15.8%. Total refunds increased by 13.1% to Rs 29,968 crore in July 2026 compared to Rs 26,495 crore in July 2025. To read in full detail, visit here.

April-July 2026 Cumulative Performance

FY 2026-27 has got off to a good start with total gross GST collection crossing the level of Rs 8.43 lakh crore during the first 4 months, exhibiting an impressive 10.1% growth from the corresponding period of the previous year (Rs 7.66 lakh crore). The net GST collection for April-July 2026 was Rs 7.21 lakh crore, up 9.2% from the level of Rs 6.61 lakh crore in April-July 2025-26.

Domestic vs Import Performance

Growth in domestic GST collection was 10.1% amounting to Rs 1.45 lakh crore. The growth in GST collected from imports had shown tremendous growth of 28.8%, amounting to Rs 66,511 crore. This reflects good performance in terms of domestic demand and international business.

Refund

The total amount of refunds in July 2026 has gone up by 13.1% to Rs 29,968 crore from Rs 26,495 crore in July 2025. The domestic refunds have grown by 7.3%, while the export refunds via ICEGATE have risen by 22.7%. During the April to July 2026 period, the total amount of refunds is Rs 1.21 lakh crore, which is a growth of 15.8% from Rs 1.05 lakh crore during the corresponding period of last year.

Performance of States

Following are some of the highlights of the performance of the states:

  • Haryana witnessed the highest growth among other states in terms of percentage growth to the tune of 25% with collections of Rs 11,892 crore
  • Gujarat has witnessed strong growth with growth percentage of 19% with collections of Rs 12,923 crore
  • Telangana witnessed good growth in terms of percentage growth of 19% to collections of Rs 5,819 crore
  • Uttar Pradesh witnessed a growth of 15% to collections of Rs 9,651 crore
  • Maharashtra remained in the first position in terms of collections of Rs 32,210 crore witnessing growth of 13%
  • Karnataka witnessed a good growth of 12% to collections of Rs 13,854 crore

Conclusion

In July 2026, tax receipts from the GST amounted to Rs 2.11 lakh crore, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 15.4% and continuing to demonstrate the resilience of India's indirect tax system. The strong cumulative GST collections from April-July at a gross 10.1% growth suggest there is strong economic fundamentals evident in indicators such as labor statistics and the E-way bill data.

The trend indicated by the improvements validates the reform measures and provides India with a secure environment for sound finances in the public sector.
