Tata Motors Auto Sales August 2025

Tata stood out with wholesales rising to 73,178 units in August 2025 from 71,693 in August 2024—marking a modest YOY growth of +2.07%. Yet domestic PV dispatches still dipped about 7% YOY to 41,001 units, mirroring industry-wide caution amid GST speculation. Its modest gain owes largely to strong CV performance and rising EV sales—especially Tata's increasing electric vehicle presence—is an area to watch.

Maruti Suzuki Auto Sales August 2025

Maruti's total sales barely slipped to 180,683 units from 181,782 a year earlier, a –0.6% YOY change. But domestic PV dispatches dropped considerably — 8–8.2% YOY — to 131,278 units, while exports surged 40% to over 36,500 units. Though compact model sales remain stable, SUVs and mini cars faced headwinds. The dip stems largely from customers holding off amid GST cut hopes, while strong foreign demand helped buffer the overall decline.

Mahindra & Mahindra Auto Sales August 2025

Mahindra reported 75,901 units sold in Aug 2025 vs 76,755 in August 2024, a YOY decline of –1.11% is seen. SUV sales however dropped sharper 9% to 39,399 units, as customers held off buying as having GST uncertainty. While its SUV-heavy portfolio remains strong, subdued quarterly demand reflects the growing impact of tax speculation. Dealer reductions and cautious dispatches likely helped contain deeper losses.

Hyundai Auto Sales August 2025

Hyundai's total wholesales came in at 60,501 units in August 2025, comprised of 44,000 units domestically and 16,500 unit exports. Though domestic wholesale sales were down about 11.2% YOY which is the largest YOY decline from its peers, it is showing it still hasn't rebounded from its traffic jam on hatchbacks or compact vehicles. Although it rebounded from July 2025, it is significant that the YOY decline continued to show the urgency for Hyundai to shift towards SUVs and EVs to meet changing demand.

Conclusion

August 2025 produced similar pattern trends once again - there is continued untouchable demand stacks on SUVs and hybrids, while entry level models continue to lag due to macro uncertainties. Tata managed an unusual positive growth purely on the back of EV battery-related products with modest wholesales. Maruti's domestic land-slide is offset with relief from their exports. Mahindra and Hyundai also experienced modest declines, reminding us how product strategies matter in an ever-changing scenario - in particular, their more extensive dedicated electric model offerings and levels of SUV offerings - when there is GST clarity.
