Effective 7 September, 2026
From 7 September 2026, NSE is changing the pre-open session rules for both Equity Cash and F&O.
9:00 AM – 9:05 AM
ORDER ENTRY – PHASE 1
You can place, modify, or cancel both Market and Limit orders.
9:05 AM – 9:10 AM
ORDER ENTRY – PHASE 2
Only Limit orders are allowed.
Market orders will not be accepted.
The system may randomly close this period in the last 2 minutes.
9:10 AM – 9:12 AM
ORDER MATCHING
Orders are matched, and the opening price is decided.
9:12 AM – 9:15 AM
BUFFER PERIOD
A 3-minute buffer period before the normal market opens.
