25 Stocks Disclosed by NSE for T+0 Settlement: What Will Be the Effect on Investors?

NSE and BSE is all set to apply same day settlement (T+0) cycle for 25 stocks starting from Thursday, 28 March. The exchange is decided to introduce T+0 settlement on 25 scrips initially within a limited number of brokers. This development will increase the liquidity in the market and will be beneficial for the investor to get benefits from the same day settlement of the funds and scrips. It was reported that T+0 Settlement will be operational simultaneously with the T+1 Settlement cycle.

T+0 vs T+1 Settlement cycle

In T+1 settlement cycle traders will have to wait for a day to get their position completely settle off from the exchange end whereas in new T+0 Settlement cycle trader will have freedom to get their position settled down completely on same day. After squaring off the delivery equity positions, traders can only access 80% of their total amount after squaring off the position and the remaining amount gets released next trading day in the current T+1 Settlement cycle. While effect from T+0 settlement cycle traders will have access to their 100% of funds on the same day as their positions will be square off as well as gets settled on exchange as well as depository end.
