Further to our letters dated 17th April 2018 & 19th April 2018, we are pleased to inform you that the demand for chrome ore excess mining in respect of our Sukinda, Chingudipal, Nuasahi and Bangur Chromite Mines amounting to Rs 122. 90 crores has been stayed by the Revisionary Authority, Mines Tribunal, Ministry of Mines, Govt of India till the next date of hearing and State Govt has been directed not to take any coercive measures to recover the amount. This is to inform you that on April 23rd a large group of people who are not local and were brought by vehicles from far flung areas have started an agitation outside our Therubali unit without any prior notice or demands which led to employees being unable to attend duty. Since subsequent shifts went unmanned, all furnaces have been shut down. The District Administration is apprised of the matter and are trying to sort it out. Demand Notices Update
Further to our letter dated 17th April 2018 the Company has received demand notices for alleged excess mining in respect of its Nuasahi and Bangur Chromite Mines amounting to Rs 24.13 crore and is taking appropriate legal advise to determine the future course of action. Taken in conjunction with the earlier notices received in respect of Sukinda and Chingudipal Chromite Mines the total cumulative demand stands at Rs 122.90 crore.
