Pune crash: Teen's father, grandfather get bail in driver's kidnapping case
A Pune court on Tuesday granted bail to the father and the grandfather of the juvenile involved in the Porsche car crash, in a case pertaining to alleged kidnapping and wrongful confinement of their family driver after the fatal accident in May. A Judicial Magistrate (First Class) granted bail to the 17-year-old boy's father Vishal Agarwal, a prominent builder, and his grandfather, who were arrested in May-end. According to police, the teen's father and the grandfather allegedly kidnapped their family driver after he left a police station on May 19 at 11 pm, hours after the crash, wrongfully confined him at their bungalow and tried to force him to admit that he, and not the juvenile, was behind the wheels when the accident took place. Copying China's EV model wrong, cautions Bharat Forge's Amit Kalyani
One of India's leading manufacturing multinationals, Bharat Forge, on Tuesday called for a more innovative approach to electric vehicles (EVs) in the country's climate action agenda which is not based on copying China's battery-based model. Addressing India Global Forum's Climate and Business (ClimB) session in London, company vice-chair and joint managing director Amit Kalyani pointed to great potential to incorporate inductive electric charging as the highway infrastructure takes shape around the country. Pune Porsche crash: Police submits final report to Juvenile Justice Board
Police have submitted the final report to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) here detailing all evidence against a 17-year-old boy allegedly involved in car crash in Pune's Kalyani Nagar last month, an officer said on Tuesday. The teen driver, involved in the Porsche car accident in the early hours of May 19 in which two software professionals, including a woman, were killed, is currently lodged at an observation home in the city. The police had filed a plea to allow them to treat the juvenile as an adult for the purpose of trial in the case. To support their case, the police have now submitted relevant evidence to the JJB, said the officer. "We have submitted all evidence to the JJB proving that he was behind the wheel of the Porsche car, starting from his house on the evening of May 19 until the accident occurred," he said. A committee formed to probe the conduct of two JJB members in connection with the bail given to the minor accused in the Pune Porsche crash case has found "procedural lapses", "misconduct" and "non compliance of norms", a senior official said on Saturday.
