Airtel Payments Bank, a FASTag issuer, has collaborated with Park+ to enable FASTag-based smart parking solution at Varanasi's Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport. The FASTag-based smart parking solution enables automatic cashless payments at airport parking, making vehicle movement in the parking zone frictionless and time efficient. The parking fee payment is deducted through the valid FASTag associated with the vehicle, a process that reduces time required to make the payment. A statement announcing the collaboration between Airtel Payments Bank and Park+ said with this, the local residents can now use the FASTag on their car to pay for a parking spot at the Varanasi airport. The two entities are working together to streamline the payment process by reducing the time spent in queues at major parking lots across the country and will soon make the service live at other city airports also. Warburg Pincus sells shares of telecom major Bharti Airtel for Rs 1,649 cr
Warburg Pincus on Friday sold shares of telecom major Bharti Airtel for Rs 1,649 crore through an open market transaction. Lion Meadow Investment Ltd, an affiliate of private equity firm Warburg Pincus disposed of shares of Bharti Airtel. According to the block deal data available with the BSE, Lion Meadow offloaded 1,90,00,000 shares, amounting to 0.32 per cent stake in Bharti Airtel. The shares were disposed of at an average price of Rs 868 apiece, taking the aggregate transaction size to Rs 1,649.20 crore. These shares were acquired by funds/ affiliates of US-based financial services company Capital Group in 11 tranches. On Friday, shares of Bharti Airtel gained 0.80 per cent to close at Rs 879 apiece on BSE.
Jio leads 5G roll out, Bharti likely to lose market share: Report
Bharti Airtel's 5G network rollout has been more "measured" and lags behind its biggest rival Reliance Jio, according to an analyst report. Analysts at investment services provider JP Morgan in the report said the measured coverage could prompt a higher capital expenditure over the next 12-18 months by Bharti Airtel, which could face potential market share losses if the coverage gap is not closed. "Bharti Airtel lags Reliance Jio in most metrics across circles, suggesting a modest relative pace of roll-outs across 21 circles, implying higher capex risk and potential market share losses if not closed," the report said. The study, based on the analysis of a recent OpenSignal report, mentioned that 5G BTS rollouts in India have gathered pace in 2023, with 2,53,000 deployments till June 19.
