 The Company has received Order No.: AIS/42-2011/858932/G dated 27th May, 2022 from General Administration Department, Government of Gujarat, sanctioning leaves of Shri Harshad R Patel, IAS, Managing Director of the Company for a period of 25 days i.e. from 27th May, 2022 to 20th June, 2022 and during the said interim period, Shri Milind Torawane, IAS, Secretary (Economic Affairs), Finance Department, Government of Gujarat will hold the additional charge of the post of Managing Director, Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited(GACL). Pursuant to the aforesaid Order, Shri Milind Torawane, IAS has taken over the additional charge of the post of Managing Director of GACL w.e.f. 28th May, 2022.  The Board of Directors of the Company at its 390th Meeting held on 24th May 2022 approved setting up of an 30,000 TPA Chlorotoluenes Project at Dahej at an estimated cost of Rs.350 Crores. This Project, when implemented, within 24 months from the commencement of engineering, would help the Company in consistently fulfilling the needs of its customers for these products and generate an estimated annual revenue of Rs.300 Crores at current market rates. The project cost shall be funded from internal accruals/surplus generated from internal operations and need based gap, if any, shall be met from External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) or Rupee Term Loans.  The Company (GACL) has, from time to time, informed the stock exchanges about updates on GACL-NALCO Alkalies & Chemicals Private Limited('GNAL'), a Joint Venture Company between GACL and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) formed to set up 800 TPD Caustic Soda Plant along with 130 MW Captive Power Plant at Dahej. Further to our letters dated 31.03.2022 and 17.05.2022, we would like to inform that GNAL has informed us today that it has commissioned Unit # 1 of 2x65 MW Captive Power Plant and synchronized the same with the State grid on 23.05.2022 and is supplying power to the Caustic Soda Plant.
