SJVN signs papers to get Rs 6,333 cr loan for Arun-3 hydro project in Nepal

State-owned SJVN on Tuesday signed papers to get a Rs 6,333.40-crore loan from a consortium of banks from India and Nepal for funding of its Arun-3 power project in Nepal. "SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company, a subsidiary of SJVN Ltd in Nepal, today (on Tuesday) signed term loan documents for drawl of Rs 6,333.40-crore loan with the consortium of banks from India and Nepal," the company said in a statement. The consortium, led by SBI India and PNB, have Exim Bank, Canara UBI & Everest Bank, Nepal & Nabil Bank, Nepal as consortium members, according to the statement. SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Nand Lal Sharma re-affirmed SJVN's commitment to complete the construction of 900-MW Arun-3 HEP (hydro electric project) in Nepal in the financial year 2023-24, one year ahead of the scheduled commissioning of the project in February 2025, as required under Project Development Agreement and Financing Documents. SJVN upscales power generation capacity target to 50,000 MW by 2040

State-run power producer SJVN Ltd on Wednesday announced that it has doubled its target of installed electricity generation capacity to 50,000 MW by 2040. Nand Lal Sharma, the Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN, in a statement said that SJVN has upgraded its Shared Vision to 5,000MW by 2023, 25,000 MW by 2030 & 50,000 MW by 2040. According to the statement this revision has resulted from addition of multiple projects in its portfolio and an already established repute of successfully operating & implementing Mega Hydro Projects in India & abroad. After hydro, the company has successfully added varied business verticals and forayed into thermal, solar, wind power generation, power transmission and power trading. Earlier, Vision of 5,000 MW installed capacity by 2023, 12,000 MW by 2025 & 25,000 MW by 2040 was formulated and set out 31st Raising Day of SJVN on 24th May, 2018. During last three years, business development of the company has gained pace and made rapid .
